Vintage Norwich gets Glam

Well, we’re very pleased to say that last nights Breakfast at Tiffanys Dress Up party was a resounding success.

Vintage Norwich arrived with our Vintage Dressing Up box and pop up vintage fashion library and well dressed vintage aficionados browsed the collection and sipped Bellini’s before a very special screening of Breakfast at Tiffanys.

We had tables stuffed with hats, gloves, scarves, bags and jewellery dating from the 30s right up to the 80s, giving the vintage curious a chance to examine the changing construction of items across the years, try on hats and gloves, and generally get stuck in like a huge vintage toy box. Local designer Jane Kenning also bought along her stunning reproduction of the iconic dress from the opening scene of Breakfast at Tiffanys to display in the box office.

Some of the girls from Vintage Norwich, Lucy from The Glamourologist, Kerry from Missy Vintage and Gemma from Retro Chick, were on hand to answer questions about everything from how to wear a particular hat to the construction of fully fashioned stockings.

Of course, apart from to see a fabulous film on the silver screen, the reason so many well turned out Chaps and Chapettes were in attendance was to win our fabulous Best Dressed prize, featuring a years joint membership to Cinema City, a Sugar & Hatter fascinator, vintage fabric Make Up bag from Poppy Valentine, a handmade copy of the sleep mask Audrey Hepburn wears in the film, a copy of the DVD and many more exciting goodies!

Before the film we went on the prowl, taking photos and details from our favourite looks, and whilst everyone else was enjoying the film we were hard at work sorting through them. It was a really hard decision to make with so much glamorous loveliness on show, but in the end a collaborative decision was made and Hannah Johnson was crowned our best dressed of the night.

Hannah was wearing a pale pink vintage dress, which has a gorgeous frilled neckline under her pale pink faux fur stole. She wore cream shoes and a matching cream floral fascinator.

All of our Best Dressed are now in our Most Stylish Gallery on Facebook. If you spot yourself then you can tag your picture.
