We are the Mods…..

December 21, 2012

Well, perhaps we’re not die-hard Mods here at Vintage Norwich, I’m sure the roads are much safer without us all riding around on scooters, but if there’s one thing we do appreciate, then it’s style that nods back to another era.

We don’t need to tell you just how lucky Norwich is when it comes to embracing subcultures and various fashion movements. Whilst we might not *need* to tell you, we do LOVE to tell you, so we thought it was about time we paid a visit to Mod One on  Magdalen Street. Possibly one of the coolest shops in Norwich, it’s a petite little store, that manages to fit a lot of  fantastic goodies in for you to feast your eyes on, including a scooter, that handily acts as a display stand.

Whether you’re fully into the Mod look or just want to add some smart sixties style to your outfit then this shop is well worth adding to your ‘must visit’ list when you’re out looking for repro vintage. Of course there was also a second wave of Mods in the eighties (hands up if you remember that?!)  and it’s a pretty stylish look to wear today too. Think sharp tailored suits and collard t-shirts for the Mods and short mini dress with cute collars for the Modettes.

With prices feeling pretty reasonable, and the items for sale including accessories for the home, Mod One is yet another reason why Magdalen street really is well worth a visit. We especially liked the accessories on offer which would make great gifts, and not too expensive either. A girl can never have enough bangles and who doesn’t need a Tootal style scarf to look super dapper?

There is a definite Mod/Northern Soul scene in the Norwich area, so keep and eye out on the Vintage Norwich events calendar so you’re in the know about what’s going on. You can also follow Mod One on their Facebook page and if you want to pop along and check them out, then you can find Mod One at 153 Magdalen Street, Norwich.
